Disney After School Special

alright.... here's an ULTRA throwback.... who here remembers the disney after school specials?!?!?!?!? MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN... HELLA old school!!!! buahahahahaha.... y'know... the cartoon shows that you'd rush home to and watch on either... abc.... or upn.... or even the disneychannel... i believe when i was a kid that it was on abc from like 3:30 all the way to like 5:00....

when i was a kid, i was only limited to 1 hour of tv.... but there was 1.5 hours of cartoon that i watched.... now this is where my problem solving skills were born... my dad strictly enforced the "only 1 hour tv during the school days" all the way until i was in highschool.... so what did i do? i simply cut out the commercials.... hahahahhaa..... i win.... well me and my brother win.... i watched so much tv that i could literally turn off the tv when a commercial starts and turn it back on when the show came back on.... what was the result? each 30 minute show now turned to 22 minutes... but take out the ending credits... and now it becomes 20 minutes.... therefore you can turn 1.5 hours of tv into 1 hour of ACTUALLY watching tv....

my dad was pissed that i found a loophole to his rule... but as an engineer he was amazed at my logic skills so he really didn't say anything.... it's funny.... as we would come home and eat a snack from a long day at school, my mom would notice me and my brother turning off the tv and like.... go play in the backyard for a while then run back into the house about 1.5 minutes later....

**sighs** i miss being a kid...

anyhow, here's the breakdown of the list of cartoons from the disney after school special.... ranked from my favorite on down:

1. Ducktales

this has got to be the best cartoon in the special... why? who here has not dreamed to be either Uncle Scrooge and be the richest person in the world and have a money bin filled with gold coins that you could swim in.... either that or be huey, luey, or dewey and have the richest uncle in the world and that would buy u anything.... tho i never did understand why they lived in a mansion yet the 3 kids had to sleep in the same room.... and who here remembers the one series where scrooge and glomgold were racing to... and i ALWAYS love the episodes were Donald Duck would guest star... he's one of my fav disney characters... or how about the episode of gizmo duck and how he's really nerdy Fenton in disguise... plus... this show has quite possibly the best theme song in the entire disney lineup... but it could be a close tie between this and my next two favorites too...

2. Gummi Bears

alright.... you get my immediate props if u know this show... this show is HELLA old... but it's a story about bears in the medieval settings... if they drink the dummi berry juice... they become super bouncy and just bounce around.... how dope is that!!! not to mention their enemy was a Duke which all his ogre minions would end up calling him Dookie... great show... great show...

3. Goof Troop

i dunno why... but i really like this father and son duo... maybe cuz i'm like in love with the Goofy Movie... but this show was just excellent...

4. Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers

i always had this dream that i was miniature like these furry creatures and was able to do some creative shit with small stuff... like make a freaking airplane/blimp out of like... a tube of toothpaste?!?!? and have a fly friend zipper or a cheese crazy maniac like Monty.... seriously, it's as if cheese was his his version of crack...

5. Gargoyles

this was the one seroius cartoon in the entire lineup... it was just crazy cuz it was so medieval (this was during my Final Fantasy Days so i really loved old medieval things) and the storyline was HELLA intricate... they'd even do medieval flashbacks... and even had characters such as Macbeth and the three witches... great show... definitely a favorite...

6. Talespin

this was a great show because of all the flying that they did... i always wanted to be Kit the Cloud Kicker and surf the clouds while Baloo was flying the Seaduck... and one of the funniest villians ever... Don Carnage... bahahaha

7. Darkwing Duck

this show was.... OKAY... wasn't the best... it was pretty cool... kind of like a disney version of Batman... in a really cooky way... i just thought it was hella weird how i could see Launchpad in Ducktales and then 30 minutes later i see him in Darkwing Duck.... this is when i pondered what the cartoon universe is like and how does it work...


so there you have it... my lineup of Disney After School Special's that i would race home during my elementary school days to watch... and yes.... i miss being a kid...
