it starts...

it was bound to happen....

In a forum that trev found earlier today:
-------------------------------------

We brought the Wii home and played it pretty much nonstop for the past 24 hours. At 12:10am, during a slower couch-sitting game of Wii Sports: Bowling, my Nintendo Wii got angry with me.

My buddy Troy reels back to roll his ball as he's done about 300 times tonight suddenly feels the controller slip from his hand. (THANK GOD for the wrist strap right?)

Nope. Wrist strap snaps. The Wiimote flies across the room impaling my 60" rear projection TV square in the upper left corner.

Be warned: Sweaty hands + faulty Wiimote wrist strap = broken ass TV.

----------------------

credit to trev for finding it.... i have sweaty hands too... (a disorder that's haunted me for life... i can only hope i can find someone who is not grossed out by it... but the list is short and very few....)

on the bright side... the wii-mote is still okay... so good engineering by nintendo.. bad engineering by tv...

and on another note... how frickin fast was that person bowling... i've played the game and i don't even bowl like that.... not even in real life do u chuck that ball....

that friend gets the idiot award for the day

Yes, in the brochure for Wii
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wiiplay.jsp

says to use the strap, and not let go of the wiimote. I dunno, but sounds like this guy let go of the wiimote.

in my head.... i'm thinking the friend was swirling the wiimote using the strap... and then SNAP... followed by a FWACK!!!! and then "OH SHIT!!!" and then the final silent sound of jaws dropping....

i better be careful i don't smack my new tv's in my house as well...
