i miss that frickin chat program. i feel like chatting has taken a back seat these days to facebook and gchat which didn't exactly achieve the same awesomeness that AIM brought. starting group chats, seeing who's away, who's online, how long someone's been online for, going invisible to avoid people, and who could forget trying to out-do eachother with better and better away messages?
i remember spending so much time in college trying to sort out my aim friends, setting a "buddies" "classmates" "acquaintances" "people i don't give a fuck about" "block these assholes" yes, that's right... if you wanted to block someone back then you had to have him/her on your aim buddylist in order to block those jerkweeds so they don't IM you. i also remember how awesome group chats were when me and all my friends would go on and literally go into absolute chaos when we were all chatting.
nowadays facebook is nothing more than a dick measuring tool to prove to everyone else in facebook universe who has more friends... and gchat is not as great since it's always on with gmail and you have to have them in your contact list which wasn't as awesome as AIM and AIM screen names. who could forget having extra aim accounts just so you can stalk people LOL.... and the classic aim sounds were just about as iconic as anything in the internet at the time
**sighs** this is how i know i'm getting old.....
