Like it or not, hobbe's final line in a way is how the world works, or rather how i think the world works. we do all want to devour one another. humanity is based on comparing and one-upping one another and the phrase "survival of the fittest" and "only the strong survive" are along the same lines.
it can be seen anywhere, international or domestic politics, economics, pro-sports, in the workplace, to trying to keep up with the jones'
maybe it's a messed up way to look at the world and people in this world, and i'm not trying to generalize this to the people i know. i feel like the people i keep in my life are genuine people who show more sincerity than this twisted sadistic viewpoint, but the world as a whole? yeah, that's how i feel the world works.... it's a dog-eat-dog world
