Pixar-ception
So i will try and keep my post devoid of any spoilers for anyone out there that hasn't already read Pixar Theory. Seriously... just read it... why? cuz it's a fun explanation to something we have ALL been watching for almost 20 years... yeah... TWENTY YEARS.... Toy Story came out in 1995... just think about that....
And since i don't have many people to talk to about this i'll just keep this post skin-deep because i don't want to rob anyone of some of the realizations i'm making after reading Pixar Theory.
Last night I watched Monsters, Inc. again on blu-ray. After reading Pixar Theory I tried my best to pick up on things here and there to try and validate the theory or debunk it for whatever it's worth and there were certain things that didn't make sense to fit into the theory, but i tried to find ways to reason out why that could be the case and still came up with something loosely based to keep the theory alive. One thing that DID happen however was the Pixar Theory in fact solved my ONE gripe i've had about Monsters, Inc. this whole time ever since the movie came out. Don't get me wrong, Monsters, Inc. is one hell of a movie and goes down on my favorite of all-time list but there was something that happened in the movie that everyone seems to just throw aside and not explain. What is it? well, i won't go into that... u would just have to talk to me after having read Pixar Theory to discuss it over with. I don't want to give it away but it has been puzzling me for a long while while watching Monsters, Inc. and I know that all my friends have noticed that ONE thing that i'm talking about, but none of us could explain it and have all equally brushed it aside because the movie as a whole was just too good to let that one thing completely shatter it all.
Now that I've seen a few things here and there and Monsters, Inc. helped at least inceptualize the idea into my head (yes i know that's not a word but because i love Inception so much it has started this minor obsession to try and rewatch a lot of the pixar movies to follow the theory as well).
If you don't know me by now, i LOVE to watch movies... and this has brought an entirely new angle to a set of movies i've enjoyed watching for so long that I have to go back and just read it. It could be all fake. It could be just one giant joke. But just like how we want to believe or trick ourselves into believing that there are little green men out there (the fact that we think aliens are humanoid form is a bit pretentious don't u think?), this is just something that's fun to think about and look at things from a different perspective; and it did in fact give me a different perspective when I watched Monsters, Inc. It didn't change how great the movie was, but now it's like Where in the World is Carmen San Diego, where you're trying to piece together a puzzled littered across 18 years worth of movies...
I wonder which movie i'll watch next in the line of the theory... could be Wall-E next....
this is how i feel like right now re-watching everything....
what could possibly be behind that door? =)
