AJ's Sports World

FOOTBALL
----------------------------------------------
unless Troy Smith turns the team around, i'm pretty much done with Football this year. the niners have done everything to just make me hate football these days. it has been a very painful year. dropping the ball to my MOST hated coach in all of professional sports: Pete Carroll and the Seahawks. ALMOST beating the Saints in front of the nation and then botching it right in front of Jerry Rice's Face. Getting crushed by the chiefs, so burn; the worst team of last year just destroyed the worst team of this year. Kicking the atlanta falcon's ass only to have a stupid Nate Clements game saving interception and get fumbled at the 5 yard line and lose it. Beating the raiders to give me some glimmer of hope only to lose to a winless team, the panthers.

who knows; troy smith could be the second coming of Steve Young. Warming the bench for 3 years and then comes out and manhandles the NFL. Could be the next tom brady, got his shot when bledsoe went down. I'll keep my fingers crossed but at the same time i'm not holding my breathe either.

For now, what i'll be rooting for in the NFL will happen at the playoffs / superbowl and here it is... something i've wanted for YEARS to come:

Manning SUPER bowl

BASKETBALL
----------------------------------------------
NBA season kicked off yesterday and all i gotta say is FINALLY. Lakers won with newcomer steve blake draining the game winning 3-pointer. Still look a little rusty with a 15 point defecit but hey, a win is a win. Vin Diseal put it best: "doesn't matter if you win by an inch, or a mile, a win is a win" and that's what the lakers did here.

Lebron and company had a pretty sour opening night falling to the celtics. i liked the way the celtics played last night and hope to meet them again in the finals. Rondo is a very good point guard when he has 3 options to pass to. 17 assists. it makes up for his really really crappy shooting.

Celtics 88, Heat 80

BASEBALL
----------------------------------------------
World Series starts today and i'm so happy that a bay area team is getting it done. It's been a long time coming here in northern california. We haven't had much to cheer for. Last thing I can remember is when Cal was ranked in BCS, or when the warriors were in the playoffs during the We Believe era.

baseball may not be my favorite sport to watch (in fact its the one i least want to) but watching the giants win the NLCS Pennant it reminded me of the time when baseball was my favorite sport. all my baseball cards and the picture in the hallways with me and my little brother in little league tell me how much i used to love baseball. I guess it all went downhill after sammy sosa and mark mcgwire were caught juicing.... kinda left baseball with a sour taste in my mouth.... but baseball is exciting at least for the post season with the giants run, and i can't deny that them winning has brought back the love for baseball

ps. Tim Lincecum is half filipino.... haha.... good luck tonight THE FREAK
