Morning Person Blues

what classifies you as a morning person?   i think there are many things involved with the type "morning person" at least it does with me... usually when i think if a person is a morning person or not does not usually just equate to waking up early because there are those that wake up early out of obligation and not by choice.  waking up as a grump at 6 or 7am doesn't make you a morning person; it makes you responsible for doing something you don't want to.

for me a morning person usually fits these following criteria:
  • The ability to wake up naturally on a consistent basis within a time window frame (no alarm needed)
  • once you're up, you're up.... very difficult to go back and take another long rest...
  • you wake up ready to start the day and feel a small sense of guilt for wasting it...
now there are exceptions to these rules and i've been known to break one if not all of them as well even though i consider myself a morning person.  this usually happens when in conjunction with exhaustion and work getting in the way but for the most part this is my outlook to every morning i have.   i believe it stems from being a kid and having saturday morning cartoons.   when i grew up my dad forced me and my bro only 1 hour of tv at most during school nights (all through at least i could drive.... so 16....) and the thing is we LOVED tv.... so when saturday mornings would roll around and we could watch as much TV as we could, we would be up at 6:30 or 7am ready to start the morning in front of the television and watch quite possibly the best 3 or 4 hours of television ever.

and i guess that mentality has stuck ever since.  on regular weekends i would wake up while everyone is sleeping in and ready to start my precious weekends.   start filling it with chores, errands, or hell even just a morning run / bike ride.

the problem with this is just about everyone i know other than my mom and dad are not the kind of morning person i am.  it just becomes something you deal with and i guess i get a lot of my alone time during this time to stop and reflect.  probably the reason why a lot of my blog posts come out in the morning and almost never at night.   the day and evenings are times for social interactions but because i stand alone in the mornings (other than my dog of course who has adopted my morning type) this is usually my time to just sit down and reflect.

oh, and by the way... do you have any idea how hard it is to find a "wake up" picture for this post... you would think it would be easy but when i did a google image search there's some pretty.... um..... interesting pictures that i didn't think google would reveal through it's search.... and by interesting i mean inappropriate... don't believe me?  go on google image search... search "waking up" then keep scrolling through until you find the picture i chose... i DARE you... well, maybe don't do it at work... but i DARE you and you'll run across a few WTF?!?! moments....

i dunno... i got a rant about google lately, hasn't been the best on my list even though i'm blogging right now on my free google laptop (thank you again by the way) but i'll talk a little bit later on how google's apps have changed for the worst lately....
