First of all... i am no expert by any means (if it's not obviously apparent) but i do love to observe the behaviors and actions of those around me as well as those i'm talking with...
ever notice how much body language matters? you can come up with a simple phrase, a simple "hello" or even small talk conversation but depending on how you're standing, sitting, facial expressions, tone of voice, stature, and even as something as little as the angle at which you're sitting is saying more than your words ever could.... body language is something i've been trying to learn a little bit more and more (i mean.... i kind of have to nowadays) but this not only applies to the opposite sex, but anyone you deal with in a face-to-face manner... maybe that's why i dislike superficial modes of communication... there's not much that can be taken from a few written words, a wall-post, or a stationary picture...
with body language you can almost tell instantly whether you are receiving a positive reaction or a negative reaction... now someone could just be having a bad day, under MAJOR influence of substances legal or otherwise.... but in a normal setting it is already saying a lot about you
i would go into all the many different types of body languages and say what each of them mean, but honestly it's not something i know as of right now.... kinda like one of those things where you don't realize it until ur in the moment then you pick up on it... maybe that's why i used to like to people watch at malls or restaurant rows.... interesting to see all the different types of interaction and speculate what's going on by the way people are standing/sitting with one another (too creepy?)
anyhow, without going too much into it cuz this post has been sitting on my screen for a while and i can't wrap anymore things to say because the train of thought has been derailed hours ago.... next time u ever interact with anyone or feel the compelling desire to just observe those around you.... take into account body language.... u'd be very surprised how powerful it can be to convey the mood of the situation
